Institutional and social majority support to ARCEPAFEAfter several months of intense negotiation, an agreement with trade unions ELA, CCOO and UGT has been achieved today, which will affect to nearly 20,000 public workers for the next three years. The agreement has the support of 80 percent of the trade union representation. The Association of Basque Municipalities has shown its pleasure for the wide consensus achieved and believes EUDEL`s dialogue disposition along the negotiation has finally benefited all public workers.
Members of the Association of Basque Municipalities have achieved today a majority agreement (ARCEPAFE), which they have considered to be "very positive", with representatives of the bulk of trade unions present in the Local Administration: Basque Nationalist ELA and Spanish CCOO and UGT. The agreement will establish and carry important improvements in the working conditions of Basque administration personnel until December 31st 2007.
The Association of Basque Municipalities has shown its pleasure for the wide consensus achieved and for the commitment of trade unions ELA, CCOO and UGT, as well as of representatives of the Basque administration with Local Administration personnel and Basque society in general. In order to achieve a final agreement, EUDEL has considered fundamental the discretion of most of the representatives of the negotiating table, as well as EUDEL`s effort to keep on the dialogue until the very end, in order to achieve a unitary agreement by consensus.
The Association of Basque Municipalities congratulates itself on the improvements achieved since the ARCEPAFE negotiating meetings started in May 2005. EUDEL considers as positives and necessaries so as to come to an agreement, the additional concessions promoted by representatives of EUDEL, in order to bring two sides closer together and to fulfil to a larger extent the demands of the trade unions.
During the meeting of its Management Committee, the Association of Basque Municipalities has ratified the agreement achieved this morning and has reaffirmed the attitude it has kept along the negotiation of ARCEPAFE, proving that there has not been a step backwards, but beneficial improvements for the Local Administration personnel.
